I've survived the weekend, though only by eating lots of toffees and fruit gums. I may kick the habit, but I'm going to lose all my teeth in the process! Another few weeks, and it's back to fruit, just not yet. Thanks for all the positive encouragement!
So, small bits of easy knitting. No major projects. Looks like I might not make my February jumper after all .
I spent most of the weekend trying to knit socks. There's a cute baby sock here which I thought might make an easy knit. Started it at least three times, but I just couldn't get into the swing of mosaic knitting (didn't get past that part). So I started the Six Sock KAL using some sport weight wool, dark blue, white and yellow. Looks a bit like a flag. The first sock was frogged, far too wide, but by bedtime on Sunday I'd just started the gusset shaping. A brilliant way to knit stripes in the round and avoid the jog. I just wish that I hadn't chosen Flag colours. Very yellow. This sock has is written for three colours, and you're meant to have different colours for the toe, heel and top, but I may just stick with the bright yellow. Can't imagine a white heel.
Check out the 2 jogs that aren't (clue: you can spot them at the very beginning of the stripes).
Another easy piece of knitting is this baby cardigan. Simple stocking stitch with a moss stitch band. I've gone for a generic 0-3 months size. Nicked the measurements from a variety of pattern sources and averaged them out. It is a v-neck, just have to work out a sleeve length now. Rowan wool-cotton.
(not blocking; just pinned out for the camera)
Alf's socks are in the post. Now to knit another pair of fast ribbed socks for Chris's mother, who is celebrating her 69th birthday yet again.

You're doing very well so far......I've had two daughters and a DIL all give up smoking, the spur for them was when they became pregnant, and thewy never went back again. There is a son-in-law who smokes, but my daughter makes him go in the garden, this has cut down the amount he smokes so much that he is now trying to stop too - but he works in an office with a lot of people who smoke......
Avoiding the jog - only way I know is to knit into stitch below - that's what Meg Swansen says.

I gave up on 31 January 1999 - and gained 10 kilograms in the next 3 months which has determinedly stayed hanging around!!! Smoking in the office??? NO-ONE is permitted to smoke in offices here, in restaurants, coffee bars nor in clubs, hotels or bars - except for a small area set aside just for the purpose! A common sight at any time of the day - office workers standing on the footpath, smoking and hundreds of butts in the gutters. If I let myself, I could pick up a cigarette right now - but I won't (need the money for yarn).
