Get Knitted
A good turn out for the Get Knitted trip, despite the bombings on Thursday. A few problems getting to Paddington, but nothing too drastic.
On the way down we spotted armed police in a couple of stations, though not at Paddington. Didn't have time to whip out the camera...
We chatted and knitted on the way down, until we arrived in Bristol Temple Meads Station.
Dave waiting to greet us.
We all lined up for the photo shot (warning! Mary will have an equivalent photo!) L-R, Mary, Carol (visiting from the US), Kathryn, Jacinta, Dave, Jill, Fi and Carol from Get Knitted. See how the sunny it is!
Here's Carol, Tracy and Tess (another Get Knitted-er who occasionally comes to the Libertys knitting evenings). Tracy drove over from Poole to join us!
A good time was had by all. We shopped, drank, ate, shopped, knitted, shopped.
(Kathryn will kill me for this picture - she honestly was wiping chocolate from her face and wasn't scowling or unhappy in any way)
We had a fabulous day, Also in these photos is Jill's friend Pippa, who drove down from some remote valley, according to Jill!) and of course, Sue!
We all spent rather a lot, with three of us competing for the Big Spender title (lips are sealed).
Sunny with collective stash:
(please click to see what a delightful shot this is!)
Here's a quick photo of my purchases (on the train). Yes, I tipped it onto the table!
More on the purchases next week. it looks a lot but really it was mainly sock yarn! Many thanks to Mary for organising this, a brilliant day out, and lovely to meet up with Tracy in real life!

Not one but two awful pictures of me!! If you hadn't e-mailed the scarf pattern, I might have been quite upset!

Love the photos of all that yummy yarn. I just knitted my first sock, so sock yarns are interesting right now! And where are you in the photos?

That looks like a seriously good day out. Great pics, especially the Sunny one. I really wish that I had been there, but maybe next month!

It was an absolutely wonderful day. Do you know I think your haul has grown since seeing it in the box. I must have been looking at it before you went back a second, then third and umpteenth time!

I also meant to say that Sue, Dave and family made us all tremendously welcome, couldn't do enough to be helpful, and provided a super lunch and tea - home-made cake (3 sorts!) made by Carol Wessel - worth going for that alone....

What a fantastic day! I love the picture of all your spoils, very restrained if you ask me.

Excellent shopping! How many glass needle holders did you take home?!

Looks like a fab day to me. Lucky girls! Good thing you were not travelling by plane, you might have been charged for excess luggage!

What a great day it was. Loved the stash on the train table; as Jill said, I would have put mine out, but no one asked... I don't think I need any more sock yarn for at least a year!

That looks like so much fun! I'll remember that sock yarn sort of doesn't count and stock up! ;)

What a great day out, I am very jealous. I did try to convince my DH that we could drive to Scotland via Bristol from Dover, but its apparently not in the right direction! Good job Sue's mail order service is so good.

envy is a horrible thing.. I wish I was there...next time, I will be there.

What fun! Tipping your goodies out on to the table is fine as long as you don't actually tip the table itself over, right? Sock yarn is just bread-and-butter knitting anyways.
