My second pair for NaKniMitMo Each year, Spilly Jane releases a new pattern, to coincide with NaKniMitMo. these are this year's pattern.
Pattern: Marion Mittens
Started and finished: January 6th - 12th
Needles: 2.75mm (instead of the recommended 3.25mm)
Yarn: Malabrigo Silky Merino, 34g of main, 15g of contrast.
Initially I had my doubts about this pattern and wasn't feeling the love in the knitting. The yarn is soft and splitty, and fluffed up when messed around with (loosely spun). I had to frog rounds rather than tink down when I found a mistake. In addition, the yarn isn't quite a solid colour. There's bits where it seems the dye has missed (I'm sure it's intentional, but very annoying) and it meant that in some places my contrast colours faded together.
Mind you, after finishing these, they've not been off my hands. The Silky Merino takes well to a smaller tension, as it's so loose. And they're very soft. The pattern might not show up as well with these two shades, but the mittens feel lovelly to wear, and are warm (well as warm as think mittens can be). Overall very pleased.
I'm thinking that these might be the last pair for this month. I've been working on the third pair but have been sucked up doing this crochet! I have one more to knit. I think I may just carry on knitting but not panic if I miss this month's cut-off for the KAL.
