Summer FOs

I've been pretty lazy over the summer, haven't taken many photos of my FOs.  When I started to use Picturetrail, I took pictures of all my FOs, even the socks, but I've lapsed badly. I don't even seem to be able to recharge the camera batteries.  This past holiday I took 3 photos - as we were packing up the beach hut!

Today's weather is typical for a bank holiday - miserable.  We seem to have had showers for most of August. I found out last week that my waterprood is not waterproof in a heavy shower!  So I've been out this weekend and bought another one that's water and wind proof.  As the weather's so dire, I've not had any inclination to go outside and take any photos; they've been taken inside, when the sun has shone, or outside on the balcony with lots of shadows, because the sun was so low.

Discounting socks, here are the FOs

KPS Top down henley in Debbie Bliss Denim. I love this one, it's comfortable, the cotton is soft and goes into the washer on Chris's high temp setting with no disasters!  I do like this yarn. It's a soft cotton to knit with, and I've used it twice now (a sweatshirt too) with several packs in stash.

KPS Top down raglan, v-neck in Jaeger albany. I've discovered that I love this yarn too. It's a narrow cotton tape and feels cool knitted up.  I've just remembered another FO which I haven't photographed today - White Lies Design Bella jumper - the albany sets off the lace pattern wonderfully (after a good pressing!)

KPS Top down raglan, in Elann Sonata - weird black. grey and white, but I do like the outcome, though this picture looks a bit *dazzling*!!! I have some blue variagated in stash!

Sitcom Chic (knitty) in All seasons cotton - this is a nice cool weather cardy, not sure that I'll get used to wearing a cardy that has one button at the top!

Raglan (knit in pieces bottom up) with Colinette Giotto - lovely yarn to use, crap stitch (moss) and I don't like using 7mm needles.  I do like this top too, even if it's bright and makes me look very fluffy!

Diamond patch (Jill Vosberg) in Rowan summer tweed. Love the knitted yarn, loathe knitting with it. I love this pattern too, just have never found the right yarn for the pattern!  I've given away two previous attempts to a fellow knitter! I added small triangles to the bottom, the diamond effect looked crap.

Angie (Its a Tape Thing, Rowan) - I do like this yarn, even on large needles. This photo is crap too - the ribbing pulls it in, but the bottom and cuffs make the design. It's quite heavy to wear though.

Anna (Linen Print Collection, Rowan) - again, it's more pleasant to knit with than I thought, but this jumper is heavy, and short!

Fuck me sideways!  I hadn't realised that I was such a prolific knitter!!! This is what happens if you hate housework and love knitting!  What's this?  14 main things???? I think that I started in March or April, so that's 5 or 6 months worth of knitting.  Not bad! 

I'm in a stocking stich top down no finishing phase at the moment! 

I started the baby cardigan - top down too, and have the border and one sleeve to do, but I'm done with that today and will pick it up in a few days.

I have added to my soon-to-start projects: some DB alpaca silk in a blood red. Gorgeous! I want to knit Lara. I wanted to knit lara before the KAL that's just started. I love the pattern, and it takes up less yarn than some of the other sumpteous designs. This yarn shimmers!

I have LOTS of things that I want to knit. LOTS.

Finish this ribbed calmer jumper.

It's pleasant easy knitting, but this wip has been sitting here since early spring, and I'm pretty fed up with it.
Two sleeves down, up to the armholes on the back now.

Work on my Peacock shawl - this has stalled, and I'm trying to put a few hours aside each weekend to work on it. Great for radio listening.

I have also started (just an inch) one of the short sleeved tops from Vintage (yuck, I'm even using the same colour, no imagination). This hasn't become an official wip yet! Not worth a photo!

Another design in Vintage in yorkshire 4ply tweed. Got yarn, changed colour scheme (too oatmeal for my liking). Swatch looks good! I had to weight it down with my glass of red wine! The colours stand out much more in the swatch, maybe I'll try to get a daytime photo tomorrow.

Baby jumper for ****** - I have some beautiful pale green yarn. Whether the parents appreciate it or not in irrelevant, they'll be able to dress the baby in this and never lose him! It looks washed out in this image - it's much more of a pale lime green.

It's taken me two evenings to figure out how to upload images so they're not too big or too small, or have huge pop ups! Must remember the size now!

And finally, proof that no house work is done here - a photo of the computer desk when we cleared it to install the new one!

Beginnings

After much dithering, I've decided to start a knitting blog.  I've been knocking this idea around for a while. I know sweet FA about blogging, so this will be a back burner blog until I've gotten my feet wet.

I have much to decide about the sort of blog that I want.

Layout : I need to play first, see what I can do to change the layout. I'm NOT a big design buff, and prefer the plainer blogs, with nice white or pale backgrounds and easy to read type!  My old middle aged eyes will not take White Writing anymore!
Content: Primarily knitting -  current wips, future projects, pictures, purchases. 
Privacy :  Not sure on this little baby yet.  I absolutely love reading other knitting blogs, the chit-chat and camaradie between  bloggers.   Yet I feel that initially this will be a private blog.  I've got a niggling worry that I'll get off-track if it's public, and start bragging about my successful knitting FOs, no mention of the naff acrylic FOs at all.  I want to be able to fully discuss my Knitting Life, and the little bits or Real Life that might get in the way.

POSTSCRIPT

I've spent ALL EVENING trying to resize this bloody photo!   I think I prefer it at this size.  This is taking serious time away from knitting and reading blogs.  I think I have it sussed now, and in the next few days I'll try to take pictures of my other WIPS (not many to date, only three, excluding abandoned and UFO stuff.  Note to self: remember to charge batteries!
