Wednesday evening we sat down and watched another couple of episodes of 24. This penultimate cd has been gripping, and rather than knit away fiercely, I thought I'd wind some skeins of yarn. Another skein of DB Maya (fourth out of seven needed) and some laceweight for a new shawl.
It was a close call between some Joslyn's fiberfarm laceweight and some Kaalund laceweight (for a smaller shawl), but the JFF won out. I'm knitting the Fibertrends Shoalwater shawl, largely because this yarn is a variagated and this pattern is feather and fan. It's going to be slow, I'll probably not work on it for weeks, so it may be a few months before I finish it. My winding wasn't too good (24!) and I've already had half the yarn fall away from the ball into a tangle.
A mixture of reds and greys. This yarn is laceweight, but not as fine as my Peacock Feathers shawl, so I'm not anticipating a beautiful floaty shawl, it will probably look ... exactly like the fibertrends one! Notice the tangle, just had to get that in!
I've also lost one of my felted clog slippers. I've hunted all over. I found its mate next to the Wandsworth recyle rubbish bag, so I have a suspicion that I've accidently thrown it down and it's landed in the bag (which has now gone to recycle land). Oh well, another pair of clogs to do too.
I'd lost my PDA too, for weeks, and found it this week at the bottom of my wips basket. A completely dead battery, all of my info gone! Fortunately, as soon as I hotsynced it, the essential missing programmes (Knitable and HandBase) were reinstalled. At least I know I don't have to hunt down installation programmes on the computer.
Other knitting news (hardly any)
Rebecca: I'm on the final section, the front, with 5 inches done. Hopefully I'll finish this off at the weekend.
and the commuting sock is coming along, nearly up to the heel. I'm not sure if this is yarn that Polly donated, it's sort of got mixed up with the rest of my work stash.
It's Alf's sock, and as he doesn't know he's a knitting recipient, there's no rush over this. Just as well. It took me 2 hours to commute home last night, that's 14 tube stops! Bloody London Underground! (I could have spent that time knitting productively, but I was too cross with LU and the person under the train)
Speaking of socks, the Six Socks KAL is gearing up to the next sock in the KAL. It requires (at least) 3 plain colours, so it's probably some sort of fairisle. Everyone's hunting for clues! I probably won't use this pattern for the Sockapalooza (yes, I've been spelling it incorrectly) so I'm still undecided. I don't want to have to rush my socks, but I need to be prepared to frog it a few times. Note the button! This is major for me. I could insert an image, insert a link, but not both. In the end I googled moveable type and worked it out from there. I'll have to join a few more KALs so that I can put some more buttons up!
No idea wat a pDA is nor what hotsynching does for body and soul, but you seemed pleased with it so I'm glad....and it seems incredibly complicated. Is that the shoal shawl that you have started in the red/greys? I have got that pattern, it is sort of on my list. I have the 16 edging rows left to do on the leaf shawl....
