There's no going back, I'm as fit as I'll ever be for the Olympic Challenge!
I've tidied up some loose ends, as you can tell from my what's on the needles album. Only UFOs in there (plus the socks)
The felted clogs are knitted, they're just waiting for a final run through the washer.
Chris has sussed out that they felt far better out of the pillowcase than in the pillow case. I still can't find the filter on the washing machine, and no mention of it in the instructions, so I can only hope that we've got some sort of self-filtering washing machine! Here's a reminder photo of clog #1 (I forgot to take a photo of clog #2).
The mystery shawl knitting is finished, just the blocking to go.
Depending on fitness levels, I may enter a few other categories (is there a winter equivalent of the pentathlon or decathlon?) and block this shawl during the Olympics.
This wonderful Triangle Tango has been frogged.
When you've been knitting for as long as I have, and you're knitting with a familiar yarn, you tend to switch on the automatic knitting pilot. This usually means (for me) that I automatically reach for certain size needles when I'm knitting with certain yarns, to achieve the (usually) constant given tension. Of course, I'm knitting to 4.5sts/inch and the pattern calls for 3.5sts/inch! I've not given up on the Triangle Tango, but for the moment the Noro's back in stash and the pattern's filed.
And a FO to report!
This is the Louisa Harding shoulder warmer. It's meant to be worn this low, honest!
Modelled by Natalya again. She's now asking for knitting gifts in exchange for her services!
Another shot, with arms
And now for my Winter Olympic Challenge!
I was pretty certain that I'd be knitting up the women's weekly cardigan in Debbie Bliss Alpaca silk. My only reservation was that the plain knitting and aran weight yarn wasn't that much of a challenge, timewise, and that I'd be hunting around for other things to knit halfway through the Olympics (yes, I'm alway over-optimistic with knitting goals).
So I may just make something else... I will be doing a late training session this evening with the alpaca silk dk yarn. I have in mind either a pattern from the Alpaca Silk Two book, or a couple of spincraft patterns (specifically the lace ones; I was so impressed with my scarf exchange lace scarf). These are DOWNLOADABLE!! Instant gratification or what.
I'll be catching up with fellow olympians Mary and that turncoat who's joined Team Wales Yvonne in Brighton over the weekend, so we'll be able to compare knitting progress and find out just exactly who's knitting what!
the shoulder warmer is lovely, is it for you?

My latest washing machine doesn't have a filter. I asked the installing man who says all the stuff goes down the drainage pipe. I'm very suspicious of this - after all, if that works, then why do all the other machines have filters? I'm still expecting a big plumbing problem but what can you do, if that is how it is made?
