Kniting in Opal Uni, shade 1413, I think (the label's lost), a sort of deep rose pink (though my colour descriptions are rubbish), and Admiral Druck, shade 1745 - a mix of bright colours which might appeal to a one year old. It won't be long before she only wants barbie pink.
The pattern has rolled stocking stittch borders - not my favourite type of edging, so I've altered this and knitted a 2x2 ribbing. I forgot about the rolling bit, so my cardigan's a little longer than the design.
Sleeves were knitted top down, but not in the round. It's so easy to adapt a sleeve for top down, you just pick up the total amount of stitches and then reverse the shaping using short rows. I much prefer rows which are getting shorter, and decreases to increases.
Barbara Walker's Knitting from the Top is an excellent resource for all kinds of top down knitting.
As I've been knitting this, I've not enjoyed the colours, though Chris, bless him, was getting very enthused about it as it took on a cardigan shape. However, now it's finished I really like it. The strip down the back adds a nice touch. For those knitters not inclined to knit a whole strip down the centre, you can add a little rectangle at the top. I chose to do the whole strip as my yarn had long colour changes - a jacquard pattern would look cool.
The left front is not longer than the right front, it's the way I take photos!
that is indeed ... loud. I think baby o's going to love it.

Wonderful job on the Candace. I love the colours and your ribbed edging looks great! I particularly like how you knit the sleeves from the top down. I do that sometimes myself too.
