I managed to get to the launderette on Saturday morning and wash and dry Picnic.
Miraculous! The rectangles became squares! No problems with any dye running into the cream denim yarn.
We nipped outside (at 2.30pm on Saturday, a bright, sunny day) and took some photos. I had to auto adjust them, it looked like they'd been taken at night!
Photo #1 - errr, wrong side!
Pattern: Picnic by Debbie Abrahams' Blankets and Throws to knit.
Started: Sept 2007
Finished: Dec 3rd 2008
Needles: 3.5mm (though I think I changed size occasionally!)
Yarn: Rowan Denim - Dark and medium blue, ecru.
I first spotted this at Yarn House in Caterham. It's on Sheelagh's sofa! I had lots of dark blue denim from a Libertys' 40% discount sale, years ago, and half of the ecru from a Kim Hargreaves Kit. So I took the plunge, buying the rest of the ecru and all of the mid blue from the Yarn House whenever we visited.
Chris loves it!

FANTASTIC! What a wonderful blanket - you are such a fabulous knitter.
It's great to see it all together - your squares look so perfectly square and the design has such balance. Beautiful work!

Doesn't it look smart! I'm very interested that the white squares stayed white. I remember someone else complaining that they had a slight blue colour after washing it. Now, to cause mischief, don't forget there is a second Denim throw in the other D.A. rug book......

I am in LOVE with this work! Have you been using it? Is it good and heavy? I love Rowan Denim, but hate knitting with it (hurts my hands). I am seriously considering it. I mean, if I knit one block per week or four to six or seven per month, not make it my focus knitting.....
