Striped Mittens

 

Pattern: Striped mittens from Favorite Mittens

Started: Jan 22nd,

Finishd:Jan 31st

Needles: 3.75mm

Yarn: Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Worsted, black Jamieson & Smith Shetland aran, orange. 

 

(the orange is really orange, and the mittens are the same size, photos lie!)

Both yarns are from matured stash, such a great way of using up oddments of stash!

Love this pattern. The 1x1 striped pattern means that these mittens are super warm.

  

These re the second pair of mttens for 11mittinsfor2011.   I've already dipped into the dk/aran stash box and found yarn for the next TWO pairs of mittens, which will be from the Cascade 220 60 quick knits book.  Can't wait to start them!  I'm trying NOT to cast on everything all at once (a great danger when I start sorting out patterns and yarns at the beginning of every month!)I will wait until I have the fingerless mitts off the needles before casting on.

Berry Hill Fingerless Mittens

My first pair of fingerless mitts for fgf11in2011kal.  So quick too!  I started these on the 24th January and had them finished on the 27th, with no knitting done on them in the evening, just commuting and any lunchtime knitting.  I think I might even manage 52 in 2011 (well, if I wasn't knitting other things)

Yarn: Manos Silk Blend, from my stash (great, eh, using the stash) 0.72 skeins, 108 yards,

Pattern: Berry Hill Fingerless Glvoes, 
Very simple, with just soe 1x1 twisted ribbing.

 

 

The only modification was to add another four row pattern at the top, so the mitts were a little longer.  Lovely and soft and lightweight!

I thought, with all of my knits for hands this year, both mittens and fingerless gloves, that I might use the thicker yarn in the colder months (aran, worsted, dk) and knit the 4ply yarns int he wrmer months.  So the next pair of fingerless gloves (started this morning) are in dk weight, and I have the next two mittens planned in worsted weight. I reckon that I'll be able to get a few more pairs finished this month!

January knitting and February knitting goals

I can't believe that the first month of 2011 is already over already!

I did pretty well with January knitting.

1) knit the first Eisblume glove, Cast ont he second. Done, sort of. I finished the  first glove, but didn't realise I had to cast on the second Should red my lists!

2) finish the Fiddlehead mittens. Done!  # 

3) Cast on my first garment for 2011 - it's Heather and it's cast on!

4 Cast on my first shwl for 2011. Again,  Done, it's EZ 100th Anniversary Camping shawl.  And knittted, just needs blocking and blogging.

5) Knit a pair of mittens for NaKniMitMo on ravelry.  Done!  Fiesta Mittens 

6) I'm also in another ravelry group, Fingerless Gloves Fanatics, I shall make a different pair of fingerless gloves. Done! Berry Hill mitts.  Need to blog them

7) Start some socks, Done!  Plain socks, in some lilttle loved regia, 

I've even managed a few more projects! Wayfarer scarf was started and finished this month   Just needs blocking and blogging.

And Striped Mittens - started and finnished this month   Just need to blog.

A great start to the year, and ALL were from stash.  Stash in 0 yards, stash out about 2321 yards, according to ravelry, though I think I may have overestimated by 100 or so yards. 

 

What for February?  Much the same.

Ten things, but four are blocking/blogging things, so I don't feel under pressure!
