Pattern: Welted Fingerless Mitts
Yarn: Novita Alpaca dk from stash, 42g.
Needles: 2.75mm
Started 1st February, finished 4th February
Modifications: The thumb gusset increases were worked within a purl stitch each side. I changed the purl to knit stitches (after working one thumb gusset and not liking it). Lengthened them slightly by about four rows. Used a much smaller needle as I wanted a small tight fitted pair.
These are my second pair for fgf11n2011kal and so quick to make! I keep saying this, but I could do 52 pairs in a year (as long as they are dk weight)
This pattern doesn't have a thumb as such, you cast off as soon as you have finished the increases for the gusset, by making a one row buttonhole! But you only cast on 2 sts instead of the same amount plus one of the cast off stitches (people who've knitted a one row buttonhole will know what I mean._ My knitting friend and I refer to this pattern in emails as the good thumb pattern!
I haven't any plans for my third pair yet, shall wait until March, I think, and do a pair of mittens instead. I'm really enjoyhing these knits for hands knitting!
Plain is lovely!! Less is more. Love them
