I love knitting mittens and what better time to do it than in January, new year and a cold month. This is the third time I've done NaKniMitMo and I'm hoping for at least four pairs this month.
In 2011 I managed three pairs - one 4ply and two worsted.aran pairs.
In 2012 I managed three pairs, all 4ply.
In 2013? Well, I'm not too sure how many pairs yet, but the first pair is nearly halfway done.
My problem with any of this type of KAL is that I start to see other peoples projects and want to knit those too! So my list is neverending. I've made an effort to queue patterns from my library but already have bought another two patterns with a third in the cart! So my current list of mittens-to-knit consists of seven pairs of 4ply/sockweight yarn, one pair of dk weight, and three pairs of 4ply/sock weight DOUBLE KNIT mittens. Not going to do 11 pairs, but I'd love to knit four this month.
The first mitten was cast on at midnight on NYE, but unfortunately was frogged, at least twice, with lots of false starts. It is now well on its way to being completed.
It's the Flamingo mitten pattern bought last January. I'm using koigu, KPPM, hence the slight variegation in the colour. I do have some solid koigu, but nothing in pink.
I'm also trying to remember to take a photo of daily progress before bed.
So, here's the first three days of Flamingo Mittens. Evenings, 1st-3rd January. I'm hoping to do more on weekends.
I have the thumb to knit and the top to graft.
this mitten fits a few of my NYE resolutions - it's stash yarn, it's a KAL and it's a pattern from my ravelry library. Win all around.
Really pretty!
