Time ran away from me last week, too busy at work and too disorganised to get any photos!
Still no photos,
Last weekend I finally went home to visit my parents, long overdue. In November last year my brother John popped in to see them (they all live locally, except for me) and found dad in his winter coat. They were trying to economise by keeping the central heating off as the bills were so steep. John decided that for Christmas he'd get them a more efficient central heating system. Let;s just say that this involved major upheaval - floors up, pipes all over the place, dust, no heating... even the poor cat was distressed! Replacing the radiators meant replacing all of the pipes too. I must asay, the house is WARM now. When they had CH installed DECADES ago they only had radiators put in upstairs, so having them downstairs now makes usch a difference.
Of course my brother, once started, couldn't stop. I've had to postpone a visit home whilst he redoes their bathroom and the bedroom I sleep in! When I say redo, I mean a total makeover. New walls, ceiling and floor. New cupboards, new bathroom suite, even a new bed! Doors are now on the other side (which really confused me in the middle of the night!). He'd hoped, by putting in fitted wardsrobes and cupboards, that my mum would remove her clutter, but alas no. She is incapable of haing clean surfaces. If there's a ledge, there's ornaments to go on it! I think she's planning the next job - their bedroom!
It was great to get home again. Probably more to do with the knitting I planned to do over the weekend! It was going to be all easy knitting, four dishcloths, the garter hem on my Hogwart's Express scarf, a foot of a plain sock and the beginnings of a top down toddler cardigan (which could be knitted on in the evenings, when I had a bit of quiet time).
Well, as usual, not gone according to plan.
Yes, I finished the socks
Yes, I started a toddler cardigan (and here it is!)
Dishcloths were never more than emergency knitting if I ran out of WIPs.
The shawl - well a disaster. It fell off the needles in transit. I tried to capture the stitches but was getting into such a muddle that when I got back to London I frogged back to the garter stitch section. That's about 55% frogged! Oh well, it is now back on the needles and I'm restarting the Owls.
I'm going to concentrate on finishing off the hsawl and toddler cardigan thsi week. NO casting on! Wouldn't it be great to start April with new projects?
