A dear friend is over in London from Moscow. She has a lovely 4year old grand-daughter called Polena. They (mum and grandma) adore handknits and rely on me to supply them! Well a few weeks ago I had an email letting me know when she'd be over, and how tall Polena was and how much they loved my handknits. And what would I like her to bring over as a special present. Hint, hint.
So I bought some pink child friendly yarn. Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino is a firm favourite, non scratchy and washable (though they hand wash woollies). Tuesday I ordered some pink yarn. I thought I stood a chance of knitting and blocking the cardigan by today - that would be a whole weekend and a day off to knit.
Unfortunately the yarn arrived this Tuesday! So I abandoned all hope of knitting a cardigan. Then had a guilt trip. Poor Polena, waiting for a new cardigan. So I tried to knit a whole cardigan yesterday , for a four year old. I hadn't realised how big they were! And failed miserably. So tonight when I see Helen I'll say that I need more time, and measurements! The pattern's Gidday, a top down cardigan with garter striped yoke. That'll be next week's knitting now.
I've also started the sleeve on Vitamin D. Hold your horses, this cardigan has the yoke knitted and then the sleeves, so I've still got the body to knit!
I've also started another dk striped sock for MrC, but this is for Christmas, so I've plenty of time, though I'd like to get the gift knitting out of the way asap, so that I can do ME knitting in December.
But there are plenty of other things shouting at me. There's the Stitchnerd's KAL, no idea yet of yarn or pattern, and Knitvent, the surprise e-book from Curious Handmade. The first pattern is out today! I've looked in the Spoiler thread on ravelry, and think it's going to be a Big project. Lots of beads!
Guess who'll be stash diving this weekend...
