I don't usually get my cottons stash out until Easter or May bank holidays, when the weather's warming up nicely. I'm a bit early this year. Not exactly inspiring to be rummaging around in the summer knitting stash when it's freezing outside, with snow!
The reason? The only pink yarn in the baby stash box was Rico cotton soft, and I found that I hated knitting with it. I knew that I had some pink Rowan 4ply Wool Cotton in the summer stash. When you consider that I'm not really a cotton knitter, I have over 200 balls of the stuff - garment's worth...
So I've cast on a free baby cardigan called Wee Bean by Taiga Hiliard, who has several free baby atterns on ravelry. It's a very simple pattern, top down seamless with garter stitch borders, kfb increases. I cast on last knigth and have 10 rows to go before I divide for the sleeves. I resisted (strongly) the urge to buy more baby yarn AND to cast on one of a few favourite patterns I sue for newborns.
Whilst rummaging in the stash I found a pack of Summer Tweed. I don;t like knitting with this, either, but last summer I wore my Summer Tweed Quick Sand all the time. This stashed ST is pink, not my favourite colour, but I'm sure I'll wear it :)
As for a pattern, weeeellll, my first thought is another Quick Sand, love it, but I've found another open cardigan design which looks good. It's Hamlin Peak, by Pam Allen. I'll have to check out yardages of my ST and pattern. hoping to start this week, or at the latest, weekend!
